SKILLS: WRITING PROJECTS

While writing projects in THE WORLD GAME you will be asked to organize facts in writing about a specific topic (e.g., your country’s history, government, culture)* To make sure that you receive the most points possible for your work, be sure each writing project includes 1) title, 2) project number, 3) organization (paragraph organization — each paragraph to have a GS and SD —see below; the whole project to have its ideas organized into a beginning, a development, and a conclusion), 4) neatness and proper language, and 5) correct spelling. Below you will find a list of possible ideas or general statements that would begin paragraphs on Project #17*. Use this GS-SD format while writing paragraphs about your country’s natural resources. Adapt it to all writing projects.

 NATURAL RESOURCES

Project #17*

Natural resources are very important to the people of __________________

(You would then back up the above GS — general statement — with SDs — specific details. Note the dark, italicized words in the above GS and in the other GSs on this page. These are the words that have to be proven to make a good paragraph. (Strive to use vivid, concrete language that makes pictures in your reader’s mind as you write the SDs that back up these emphasized words.)

The people of __________________ have many natural resources, which are well-located for industry.

There are still some problems in the development of natural resources in __________________.
